I purchased an 8 GB Iphone 2 weeks ago but the battery is weak. It lasted for 2 to 3 hours and apple store replaced with a different phone today but I am wondering if the replaced Iphone is refurbished. I am still in the period of return date when I reported the problem and I assume they should replace it with new instead of refurbished. Can I find out by the serial number if the replaced phone is refurbished.

From what I know, they usually will give you a refurbished, no matter what. That is their policy... The only way I didnt get a refurb when I returned mine is because I had a 4GB one, and then "bought" a 8GB by paying the difference in price, or else I would have gotten a refurb...

Check the serial number and see what the week number is. Serial number
XX751 would be week 51 of 2007.
XX801 would be week 01 of 2008

I got an iPhone replaced on Sunday that has the XX801 serial number and it is brand new.
