So, the preface to all of this is that I've owned macs since my iBook G4 and have recommended Apple to anyone and everyone that would listen, mostly based on customer service that I've received. I have heard good and bad stories about their customer service but have only experienced good with my issues.
Over the past few weeks I have noticed that I was randomly getting "No SIM inserted" errors but couldn't tell what caused them (I would just take my phone out and see that message, so I don't know when or why it was happening). I made a genius appointment and explained just what I said and was asked "So is it an inconvenience that you have to constantly check your phone just to make sure that it's working properly?" To which I answered yes, that it was. Then, without any other questions was told, "Alright, well I'm going to give you a new one." Walked out of the store with a brand new phone.
Pretty impressed. I've never seen Apple so quick to just replace a computer or anything else I've had problems with. I'm sharing this 1) because I think it's great that they were willing to do that and 2) to see if anyone has any opinions on why they were so quick to just give me a new one without really looking into it. My initial thought was that it's because they're really trying to push iPhone and have significantly more competition than they do with their iPods... but then again, they have a tiny marketshare with computers as well (but then thought that maybe because the phone is cheaper, they're more willing to replace it rather than try to fix it/diagnose it)...
