Since I updated my iPhone 5s to 7.1 the battery has been really crappy, so I decided to do a clean install and restore from iCloud. The battery seems to drain as fast as it used to, but what surprised me was that I suddenly have almost 4 GB extra free space. I have the exact same apps, photos etc. as before, so I can’t make any sense of it. Is this a common experience or is it just me?

I also reset my phone recently, and while I didn't get near 4gb of a difference, I suspect it's probably due to any caches from Safari bookmarks, iMessage, and Mail messages. It's what accounts for a lot of "Other" storage.

I had a similar experience, but all that free space went away as I logged into sites and the cached info downloaded on my phone again. I did t get to keep all that free space. Game scores, Evernote notes, etc. you'll see it happen and go "oh well".....

Yeah, that pesky "other" storage.
