iPhone running hot and draining battery

This last week my iPhone 4 started running really hot and i'm getting about 2 hours of battery life. Obviously something is running and draining the battery. I've closed all applications and have reset it numerous times but still have the problem. I haven't done a hard reset yet. Is that what I should do? Any other suggestions.

I would try a hard reset and if continues take it for a genius visit.

I would take it to the Genius Bar immediately battery problems like this is no joke. Could be a defective li-ion battery which has been overcharged and no longer works properly. This happened to my macbook pro battery before, can't hold charge and gets really hot and gets really swollen. This is a serious health hazard and could cause the battery to explode so yea I would definitely not wait and get it checked out ASAP.
