iPhone Scamsters

I was recently going around checking for good deals on the iPhone 4 as well as a couple of other cell phones i wanted to buy. And I came across this:

http://www.kuada.page.tl/Price-List-d--d--d-.htm

this guy's offering 'BRAND NEW GENUINE' iPhone 4G for as little as $250!!
I was shocked but i inquired a little more and he told me that he would deliver the handsets right to my doorstep after I pay him the amount through Western Union or Moneygram.

On top of that he asked me to sign out the amount to his 'accountant' in Malaysia since that's his head office! A little more research and I found at least 4-5 more frauds like him..

Of course I am convinced that this a fraud plot but could this be a underground black market of some sort?!

It's nothing new. You never get the phone, they just take the money. It's a common scam to "sell" expensive stuff at ridiculous prices, like a MBP 15" new for $800 or so. You often find the scams on Craigslist. No one receives the product.

However, on Craigslist, you will often find impressive deals, but if you go through with it via meeting in person and paying cash you wind up with stolen merchandise. If the police manage to track it to you, you can be prosecuted for receiving stolen goods.

Send him the money - what have you got to lose? Seriously, that's one of the worst sites I've seen in a long time.

haha of course am not going to send them the money!
i know for sure apple doesn't have any 'WHOLESALE RETAILERS' who sell d product dirt cheap! these people actually sent me a sample invoice and what not just to convince me 2 pay them the $250!

the most hilarious part was that the company was registered in the UK and the payment was to be made out to Malaysia. and they gave reasons such as:
1) my boss is in malaysia so the payment has to be in his name
2) u have to make a payment in the name of the cashier who is in Malaysia
3) Our head office is in Malaysia
4) We don't allow people from India to pay to the U.K

and several more!
:D

Well said.
The W.U. Transfer is a huge red flag.
And if it's too good to be true...

Not always. A couple months ago I bought a (used, alright condition) 3G 8GB off Craig's List for $50 :D

I sold it an hour later for $150 but that's besides the point

The funny thing is, that address he registers is about 10 minutes from where I live and I pass it everyday. I'm pretty sure they are empty offices to let at the moment.

Either it's a scam (most likely). Some Nigerian is problem doing this crap. Or some guy is selling Chinese iPhone 4 knock-offs.

yep true that there might be genuine people who go for western union but if you are indeed a 'company' as u claim to be, then whether i make my payment through cheque, dd, paypal, credit card etc shouldn't matter as long as its made out to the company and not its so called 'cashier' or 'accountant'

that itself is a very dubious statement!

Plus, there's no such thing as an "iPhone 4G" or an "iPhone 4G HD". And, the company lists an address in England but uses a website with an extension from East Timor (.tl). All red flags.

Lets see then...
iPhone 4G
$250 new
Send money via Western Union or Moneygram.
Send it to his accountant in a foreign country.

Seems legit to me.

i'd say a lesson well learnt 4 me ( without losing my money that 2!)

n d lesson is: gud things in lyf don come @ d price of crap! :p

well honestly buddy, since apple hasn't been too enthusiastic about making the iphone 4 launched in india and then providing them @ round $1000 a piece and 4 d lure of a cheap deal on d same, i almost fell for it :( until the whole malaysia thing came up!
