Got a new SE 2020 yesterday from Walmart. Activation has not been the easiest process.

Initially it said 'No SIM' when booted; after a while I swapped over my physical nano-sim from my old phone. This didn't work (I'd get Verizon bars but placing a call gave a recorded message that there was a problem on my account).

Spent an hour with tech support troubleshooting this morning; after the rep tried to activate the Digital SIM multiple times, he eventually told me the Digital SIM doesn't work on the iPhone and did something to make the physical SIM work. So at least I can make calls again.

Does the digital SIM work for anybody? Rep seemed very not-competent; I feel like calling back and pushing the issue because I'd rather run with dual-SIM support for when I (eventually) travel again. But if this is a lost cause I'll give up now.

You need to call back and hopefully speak with a representative that is knowledgeable. Give the rep the iMEI number of your phone and your SIM card number. Once system is updated, you should have service.

If you don’t want eSIM with Verizon, remove it

I have a Verizon eSim on my Xs Max. Works flawlessly. It took me two reps to get to someone that knew what to do, but it's definitely do-able. You're looking for the Digital IMEI, its right under the regular IMEI in settings.

It should work with postpaid. Out of curiosity, has anyone provided a QR code for you to scan into the phone or have the reps just tried to set it up without that? I once had a Verizon rep try to set me up without the code. It was useless. You need to scan a QR code into the phone.

Actually I didn't realize it wasn't the OP who replied to me...the question was for HIM...are you trying to set up a prepaid or a postpaid account? AND, did they use a QR code when trying to set it up?

I didn't mean to offend you and sorry if I did. You're response threw me off when you said you have a postpaid account so I started thinking of what else can be checked and I thought of the QR code. I just wanted the OP to see both possibilities. I guess you saw my original reply to him as a reply to you. Sorry again.

I've been using it since it first appeared. In the beginning it was a challenge to get any of the reps to know how to deal with it at all. So I empathize with the op. I guess it's still a challenge for a lot of the reps.

I'm waiting for stores to open before switching to eSIM.

Hah. Yeah I have a postpaid account.

And the guy had no idea about the QR code. I tried to tell him about the page I was reading on the Verizon site, and suggested that he needed to send me a QR code, but he kept saying 'that's not the problem; I see your phone is already setup in the system.'

My 'Cellular' settings option just had 'Add Cellular Plan'; nothing else, which I think is what the QR code fixes.

I'll try calling back next week when hopefully the non-Saturday reps are on duty, and find somebody to help me out.

Yup. You may have everything set up in Verizon's system but if the QR code was never scanned into the phone, it's not fully set up in the phone.
Once you go through the "add cellular plan" option in the setup it then asks for that QR code to be scanned in.
