Before I rip off my display protector to see if that’s the problem, I wanted to ask around here and see if anyone has noticed a marked decrease in recognition of screen input. Like you go to touch an onscreen prompt or try to highlight text for copy/paste and nothing happens. It’s like a dead zone.

I can’t be sure it’s tied specifically to iOS 14, as the problem has kind of sneaked up on me with instances that I think happened during the last iOS 13 updates. But it was fewer and far enough between that I shrugged it off and wasn’t paying attention.

I think it’s possibly happened on my 11 Pro, but I use my SE more and today it’s been really noticeable that I’ll maybe try to change pages on a site similar to this or even this one and I’ll touch the appropriate prompt and nothing happens. I’ve had this happen before, years ago after Apple issued a series of updates close together. So I’m thinking it’s an iOS thing but I really don’t know.

I hate applying screen protectors so I will rip this one off as a last resort.

I have never experienced no touch registration with screen protectors. So protector has nothing to do with it. We left with 2 things: 1) ios14 buggy 2) Your digitizer is somehow defective.

I once had a really thick cheap tempered glass protector that was messing things up. But since I’ve had this particular protector for awhile I’m inclined to think you’re right in this case.

To me it seems like some part of the touch sensitivity was lost already in iOS 13. Back when I bought the iPhone 8 my wife is now using, I could operate it just fine with a screen protector installed and touchscreen gloves on. Nowadays the same gloves barely register a touch and my SE has been mostly dead to the same gloves right from the get-go. I wish there were some high sensitivity toggle available for the colder part of the year, but we all know how much Apple loves configurability and options.

I am happy to tell you that i faced the same issue in youtube app of my se 1st gen on ios 14. Never missed minimize/maximize button in video, but today it was totally unresponsive. So i think it has something to do with bugs in new ios. At least my 1st gen lcd is in great condition, so shouldn't be a hardware problem.

Thank you. Yeah I remember seeing this behavior before a couple of years ago when we had a lot of iOS updates in a row like we did recently. I’m trying to see if it happens on my 11Pro and iPad mini

How’s the situation now? I bought the SE earlier this week to try it out and love it thus far. I’m still on 13.5 that it shipped with as I haven’t read yet what iOS 14 is like with the phone.

I've also got se2 and keeping it on stock 13.5 on purpose. Don't want to deal with all of the bugs in ios 14, since there is no compelling reason to update just for the sake of updating on my primary phone.

My SE2 hasn’t had any problems with touch sensitivity since I updated. I have had some battery problems and I started a thread that is now in the double digits for page numbers. After about a week my battery life is a little better but not as good as on 13.7
There’s a couple of things about 14 and a couple of things about 13 I like better.
I should ass about the sensitivity like I said I haven’t had any problems and I use an Otterbox Defender. Those cases for this phone have a plastic screen protector built in. They did away with that for the 11.
