My iPhone SE got run over by a car -it was in my wallet that fell out of my pocket while walking into the grocery store. I get to the register and realized I have no wallet!!! thankfully the guy at the checkout saw someone bring in my wallet and LUCKILY my credit cards did not get stolen. Currently the phone is working- except the display is 3/4 black and there is a dent in the back to show that it did indeed get run over. Looks like the popsocket on my plastic case seems to have taken the pressure and created a curvy dent.

I'm assuming this is something that can't be fixed by a screen repair - what do you think, internal damage beyond repair or something that can be worked with?

At a minimum your screen is gone. Apple can tell you all the problems for free. They won't do any work or replacement without your authorization and the diagnosis is free.
