Hello all,

I'm wondering if anyone upgraded from like a 5S, SE, etc. to an iPhone 7. Specifically from a 4" (or smaller) screen to a 4.7" screen. Right now I do have some issues with vision so I'm hoping that this will make things a bit easier to read and clearer. The SE is great, don't get me wrong, I just wonder if some of my vision issues could be related and if the 4.7 feels good visually.

In terms of speed, not really concerned. The SE is a beast for speed so the 7 is that + a little extra.
In terms of storage, not really concerned. I'm using about 26GB on my SE mainly due to music, books, and pictures, but I load off and on.

What about the texture, thinness, and feel of the phone? Its not glass right or is it? IIRC, only the 8 and X are glass, the others are.... plastic? Aluminum?

Thanks

I have had both, currently on the ‘x’. I still now consider selling and going back to the ‘se’. The weight and style in my view are gorgeous.

Believe it or not, it is the lack of haptic engine in the se which disappoints for me. That extra element of interaction is really great in the 7/x

I’d say, you would become used to the extra size quickly and adapt with little issue. The extra screen does help with eye strain and typing - it did for me at least.

I am loosely holding my breath for an updated se2, and if that happened I’d be really keen to see it and ... maybe own it.

Buy the 7 and if you can afford to keep hold of the se for nostalgics, then I’d do that too

In terms of visuals with the 4.7 iPhone 7, obviously you have a slightly larger display, but I also think iPhone 7 has a brighter, more vibrant display that might help aid in that area with vision.

The iPhone 7 also uses the 7000 series aluminum for the casing. The iPhone 8/X have an all glass backing which is also wireless charging capable.

This thing is totally amazing. I love he brightness of the screen. I can type quicker. The speed is just awesome bout the same as the SE it’s just fantastic. I’m so glad I got it.

For me I went from a SE to an 8 and for all intents and purposes back to the SE. I think it is way easier to use with one hand and carry. Plus the headphone jack!

Switching for me was easy and a no brainer! I loved the size of the se since it fit perfectly in my pocket but being legally blind it was hard to see the screen. So as soon as I was able to upgrade I went straight for the 7. I am absolutely loving the 4'7 screen.

I don't know if you're interested in a 5s to a 6s, because I think that doesn't apply to the SE.
But although I really liked the screen, for me, the best thing the 6s has compared to the 5s - hence why I'm not sure it applies to the SE - is battery life. I easily went from 4 hours of usage with high brightness and LTE (my standard usage outdoors) to 6.5-7 hours with the same usage. I don't update devices, so the 5s was on its original version, therefore, that's not a factor.
Screen size was not an issue, I immediately accustomed to it, and I appreciated the larger screen. Would I have a problem using a 5s with comparable battery life (An SE on iOS 9)? No, without a doubt.

I had the se for about 2 weeks while waiting on my iPhone X. Before that I had the 7. The 7 hands down is a better phone. I didn’t like the se at all. Miss my 7 even to this day tho. The 7 in matte black was a good lookin phone.
