Ive dropped my phone about a month ago....the new iPhone 12 Pro. Wasn't happy that I scuffed up the edges but shame on me for rocking it naked. Funny I noticed today the scuffs naturally buffed out of the metal band due to going in and out of my pocket 1000s of times and handling it. Cool!

I believe stainless steel shouldn't scuff that easily, so what appears to scuff was probably just a layer of coating of something, which then flatten out through time. Probably just the glossy coating/color coating.
 
Yes that’s the liquid metal terminator stuff we saw already in the 80ties on TV :cool:
