I'm just a newbie here. I got my iPhone 3GS, iOS5, 16GB from my sister. This is actually her problem before, but she bought a new iPhone so I got this one. From iTunes, only 923.5MB of capacity are available, even when I go to Settings > General > About. This has been our problem for almost two years, I think.

Can somebody help me with this problem?

Nope.

Not yet, because I'm afraid of losing all game saves & contacts. Maybe I should try now. Will reply immediately after the restore. Thanks.

The same.

Still the same, it showed 923.50MB again. Any other suggestions to solve this problem? :|

Can't believe you accepted this for 2 years ! I'm guessing it's no longer under warranty but still take it to apple, the may be sympathetic.

My sister just told me that she already had this problem since she acquired this iPhone. If I go to an apple store, is the solution going to cost me a lot?

OP, you know you have your serial number and phone number showing, right? Perhaps you should delete that.

ok so if you wipe the phone and don't restore apps its still showing 925mb of free space total? just take it to an apple store and ask if they can do anything. not going to know if it'll cost you till they examine it.

I will bring my phone to an apple storethis week. I hope this two-year problem gets fixed.

You just need to backup I think that might work then update/restore your iPhone.
