Okay so my week old 3G iPhone has decided to die on me, figures.
The thing went flat last night so I charged it, it was acting a bit funny (sleep button not working properly(the long button at the top)) but I attributed it to low battery.
So I take it to work this morning and the thing wont turn on, I figure since I used an old iPod cable and charged it in my P.C (and not my mac to which it is configured) that it must have caused the problem.
But then I remember it did turn on when I had unplugged it from my P.C that morning...
So I now have it plugged into the back of my mac and it's currently off. Pressing the 'sleep button' at the top does nothing, nor will the home button respond. BUT if I plug or unplug it from my Mac or PC it does turn on allowing me to use it until, and here's the thing, I press the sleep button and it turns off.

This must be some kind of physical issue. What's the best way of sorting this out?
EDIT: As I said before it is still usable if I plug or unplug it from my computer but I'm screwed if it goes to sleep. So I went to settings and turned auto sleep thing off. After wards I recived a text message and commenced replying on my apparently 'broken' iPhone and noticed some lag (maybe it was there before and I'm just noticing it now) and I saw the 'clear all settings' tab and though "Hell, it's worth a try".
So here I am with a now WORKING sleep button... What happened?!
