No matter what I do, what jailbreak program I use or anything my iPhone 3G becomes very slow after jailbreaking.

Is it because I have a 3G
Is it because my phone is CRAP

btw I haven't downloaded any packages that run in the background, or use multitasking, I disabled Redsn0ws multitasking and home wallpaper features so that I didn't have to worry about crashes.

Unfortunately it's because your phone is "crap"

That's just the way it is with a jailbroken 3G. I had one, trust me. Not enough RAM.

Turn off Spotlight searches, that saves the phone from having to index everything. That will speed it up.
