Hi guys I need a little help with something here.
A few days ago a neighbor of mine got an iPhone 3G (He knew I already had one), so he asks me if I could help resolve an issue with his phone. He told me that when he used the soft gps inside his house (cell tower triangulation), it would show his location about 300 miles from here (Harrisburg, Pennsylvania), all the way to Manasquan, New Jersey. These locations are nowhere near each other and are in different states.
I was thinking it could be an issue with his phone, so I went into Google Maps on mine as well, and as you know it, it showed my location also 300 miles from here. I was thinking that maybe something might have been wrong on our wifi routers (address set wrong or something?), so we unplugged all of our wifi routers and still have this wierd bug. I'm guessing this is a problem with the ATT cell tower triangulation because once both of us went outside and used the actual GPS chips in our phones, it instantly showed us at the right location. Once we lost the GPS signal although, it shot us right back to Manasquan, NJ (300 miles from Harrisburg, PA).
Any advice on this would be great before I call up Apple about this. Thanks!
