I purchased a few albums from the iTunes store and changed the genre of the songs in iTunes, but the change in genre isn't reflected on my iPhone. I tried syncing a few times and even unchecked the "sync music" box in iTunes, but the genre doesn't change... Also I noticed that even when I unchecked the "sync music" option in iTunes, these same albums remained on my phone.

I have a MacBook Pro running Lion and an iPhone 4.

Thanks for the help!!

I tried that, but even unsyncing the music leaves the albums on my phone. I can't figure out why they aren't coming off when I unsync the music...

I believe the ID3 tag (I think I have the terminology correct, but I may be off) isn't updating with iTunes. IME, iTunes is horrible for this. You on Mac or PC? I use media monkey on my PC, but I am sure there are other alternatives out there for Mac.

I'm on a MacBook Pro using Lion. Could you go into a bit more detail about this? I'm not familiar with updating the ID3 tags. Thanks for the help!!!

Someone else may chime in here. LIke I said I don't store any of my music on my Mac. I despise iTunes (but that is for another thread!)

I'm having a very similar problem. I've tried numerous things, and none have worked.

I'm also running a MacBook with Lion, and a 4S.

I'm curious about this ID3 thing that's been mentioned.

Thanks for any help.

I don't have that option.

One of the options is "Convert ID3 tags...", any suggestions as to whether this is it, and if so what further options to choose?

Does anyone know if this a Lion problem? It's new to me!
