iphone speaker quality

when playing a movie or music purchased through itunes i am not impressed with the quality of the built in speakers? it sounds distorted when the volume is full. is this common or have i got a dud handset didnt play with any instore so have nothing to compare it to.

Exact same here - on full volume some music almost sounds unacceptable, proper crackly. Other than that very impressed.

In iPod settings, boot on bass reducer. This helps, although not nearly 100%. Still thats somewhat normal.

anyone who uses one to play music in public ought to be shot on sight anyway. The speaker's only really for speakerphone conversations I would hope.
