iPhone speakers ringing with earphone

My iPhone is ringing with its external speakers when I have my earphone plugged in. So basically, it's ringing thru the speakers AND the earphones....
Is this normal? (I don't remember it ringing when I had my earphones plugged in)

Silent mode is off....
And the ringer volume is set to normal if earphone is not plugged in.

Yup, that's perfectly normal as long as the phone isn't in silent mode.

With earphones/headphones in the iPhone rings through these and the external speaker at the same time.
