Engadget caught up with EA at the media event today and confirmed that iPhone Spore will be an actual product, but is not expected to ship until September.

EA also confirmed that there were "other games in early stages of development," and that it was "actively using the new iPhone SDK to develop games for the iPhone OS."

Spore is a game i have been keeping my eye on now for a while, it looks like a really great game and to see it enter the iphone/ipod makes me more excited.

i wonder how well the iphone/ipod renders 3D artifacts, as for the pool stage, it looks all well and dandy, once the game evolves a little more, i'd like to see how that works, along with the internet capability

It's nice after all the rumours and speculation to finally see we're getting somewhere :) This definitely looks like the kind of thing we want to see on the iPhone/touch, and hopefully someway to kill time.

Wonder what the drain on the battery life is. Any ideas?

very cool, I can't wait to see what type of games will be available :D

September

...So I guess that means it'll ship before the desktop version. :)

(Joking. The desktop version's currently scheduled to ship in early September, sez Wikipedia. But given how many times the release date has slipped so far, I'm not holding my breath.)
