Yes, you've read that right: if I take my AirPods off and put them away, my iPhone randomly starts to play a song from the Music app.

The Music app was previously closed, I wasn't listening to music. But somehow, putting the AirPods away in their case sometimes (1 out of 10 times or so) triggers music playback.

The same happens on my Mac (if the AirPods were connected to the Mac), it opens the Music app and starts playing.

Has anyone ever seen that before?

I bought HomePod Minis to use as monitor speakers for my Mac mini M1. Sometimes (rarely) I can even make them work that way. But what they will do, if I pick one up, out of the blue, it will start playing my long time collected Apple Music. It even happened while I was talking to Apple Support in attempting to make my HomePod Minis work as monitor speakers.
