I just got a new iPhone 3G.
Upon turning it on I noticed that the logo seems kinda "messed up" (see attachment")

At first I though it was a "crack" on the screen but that's not the issue.
The weird thing is that apart from the logo, all graphics (standby screen, games, applications) look fine!

On one hand I'm sure it's faulty, on the other I can't see any other problems related to this "glitch".

You said new, is it new as in, new in box from apple?

Or new to you, but you bought it from someone.

Because it looks like the boot logos got changed.

lol. I think this guy is talking about that little detail on the apple logo itself. That little "crack" is supposed to be there. Just google search for "iphone boot logo" or something similar.

The iPhone is brand new as in sealed.

I'm sorry but Im starting to feel like an idiot now...

Are you saying that the line that crosses the apple is meant to be there? Along with the little shadow on the leaf? :/

I did a search on youtube for a video on startup to see the logo and I couldn't see that line. On the other hand maybe the video can't capture that since the apple glows white and the line is really thin.

Yep, that's the standard iPhone Apple logo. The only thing that looks off is the blue tint on your image; the logo should be silver.

Yeah, like the others said that's supposed to be there. Now if it wasn't, something would be wrong.

It's probably just due to the lighting and camera (s)he used.

Wow! That just got me confused.
I've owned a macbook for over 2 years and an iMac for less than one and ofcourse the logo doesn't look like that. :apple:

Thanks for your prompt feedback!

I thought you posted this because the logo was blue/green, but I guess that's just your camera. Otherwise it's normal.

Apple is a bit odd when it comes to logos. On one hand, Macs use a solid grey, monochrome logo, but then their handhelds (most iPods and the iPhone) all use their 'official' company logo:

Actually this is the same logo that the login screen has on OS X Leopard.

Haha yeah it is supposed to be a chrome steel apple. This thread reminds me about that guy who asked why his Weather App always said 73 degrees! LOL :D

When I talk about the Mac logo I'm talking about the solid grey one used during the boot up process (when it's on the white screen with the spinning load icon underneath) :)

lol. I'm not sure wether to take this post seriously. I feel like, this is so obvious and hard to miss. I can't fathom the idea of not knowing this. :O

Have you used macs before? or is this your first apple product?

I'm sure I've made myself look like a fool enough :) but anyway.
Yes, I've been using macs for quite a while.

I have a white macbook for over 2 years (I'm sure the logo doesn't look like that during tiger startup).

I also have an iMac and an iPod classic, which again as far as I can remember, the logo doesn't show like that. (the one that appears after a reset)

The funny thing is, as I said already, that I did a youtube search for the startup video and the logo would show up as being solid (obviously the camera couldn't pick it up) which got me even more confused.

Ya. I might just consider pulling the zipper and hope this all blows over real soon :p

Well if you go to "about this mac" thats the same apple logo which will present!
