iphone stereo jack splitter

im after one that will work with my new headphones i got a cheap one off ebay but when i push the jack all the way in i get a very muffled sound.

But if i pull it half way out it sound fine but it wont stay in place, im going on holiday in a few day and was hoping to be able to share music and my ipad with the wife on the plane, any help would be great thanks.

ps i have the dr dre solo headphones if that makes any difference as to why the stereo jack splitter i have wont work

You should be able to stop in at any Radio Shack or the equivalent to find a Y-splitter. I believe they have them at Best Buy or their equivalents also.

The one you purchased is most likely just subpar quality or defective, unfortunately. If you grab something like what I've linked, then you should have no problems whatsoever. Good luck!

could it have somthing to do with the rings round the jack. the jack has 2 and my headphones have three?
