iphone stuck in auto-answering mode

My iPhone 3GS with stock iOS5 is somehow stuck in a mode in which it auto-answers calls after 1.5 rings or so...
any clues ?

(I tried reflashing the thing entirely to no avail)..
I suspect some *<numbers> + call was entered by some joker colleague ;-)
