Background: iphone 3GS jailbroken with spiritjb running on fw 3.1.3 and not unlocked. 6 months old. Worked perfectly until now....
Ok so i was on the cydia app the other day and had 5 updates. Thinking it was convenient, i tapped "update all" and after that tapped "restart springboard". Now this is where my iphone hangs (like it usually does). It seemed to take longer than usual to restart spiringboard but gave it the benefit of the doubt and waited. I got impatient at around the 20 minute mark and thought something was wrong so i forced it to shut down. (By pressing the home and sleep buttons). Now everytime it hangs at the apple logo. It sorts of goes into a cycle where the springboard icon pops up, spins, then the device switches on and off again.
What ive tried: connecting the device to the com (windows). itunes detects it and performs normally but the iphone remains stuck. ive tried pressing down the home and sleep for 10 sec and releasing the sleep for another 20 sec but everytime the boot logo comes on, the cycle repeats. Im holding on to restoring it as last ditch effort (it will go to recovery mode) cause i know it will update it to 4.0.2 and i wont be able to jailbreak it. I know its not dead because i can actually winscp it for a short period of time before losing connection.
If you have any suggestions on fixing this cycle or if i can jailbreak it with 4.0.2 please help. Thank You in advance!!!
