Have got an old 2G that is jailbroken and unlocked.

Since I now have a 3GS I wanted to give the 2G to my sister and then I choosed the iPhone option to reset and restore it. It seemed to work ok but now it stopped when trying to reeboot. All I see is the Apple logo and the spinning wheel (not moving) occasionally the spinning wheel disappears and comes back and spins for 1 second. I can't turn it off/on and have tried to get it into DFU even though it's on. Nothing happens.

Somehow I can access the iPhone through my Mac with USB and restore it somehow without DFU/iTunes?

If you're SURE you did DFU mode (see my sig), then try to Restore in Recovery mode.

If that doesn't work try this:

1) Hold buttons sleep + home untill iPhone turns off;
2) Open iTunes;
3) Hold home button and plug the phone to your computer. The phone will turn on and the iTunes + Arrow + cable screen will appear.;
4) iTunes will recover your phone.

If that doesn't work download iRecover and try that.
