iPhone stuck with black screen of death

I own an iPhone 3gs MC model which was jailbroken with spirit. I was using it for internet tethering with mywi app. today i turned off my laptop having the iPhone still connected to it and after the laptop shut down completely i noticed that my iPhone was showing a black screen. I have tried everything possible and nothing works. I cant get to see anything on the screen as it is black (lol). when i connect it to itunes it is recognized as being in recovery mode and in need to be restored. itunes goes through the restore bit and during this my iphone turns on with a white screen but i end up with the "error 28" and i do not know what else to do. please help me. thank you
