When I sync my iPhone to my computer it copies music that is already on the phone. I think that it erases it and copies it over again. Does this happen to anyone else and is there a way to fix this? Thanks for your time and I hope that this made sense.

Sounds just like a problem I was having with my iphone. Not sure if my solution will work for you like it did for me but check out my response in this thread:

Just right click on the songs in itunes and select "Get Info". Once that pops up, go to the "Info" tab and that's where the id3 tag info is located.
Hold down the Control key and single click on the song or put two fingers on your touchpad (if you have one) and single click.
Go to system preferences and set up your mouse clicks under mouse. Left click, right click, side clicks..... They're all there.
