Device:

iPhone 6 (original battery, never went to Apple for a battery change after the battery-gate scandal)

So is it just me, or does the iPhone takes an unusually long time to go from 90% to 100% charged as opposed to any other range?

I don't see this issue with my iPad Air (5th Gen) which is also running iOS 12.

What you’re seeing is by design. You get a faster charge up to 80%, the rest is trickle charging. Batteries of this chemistry don’t like being stuffed to the gills all the way up to 100% as it will dramatically impact the lifespan of the battery.

As others have said, it slows down to a trickle, You don't have to wait until it's at 100% before taking it off the charger, in fact it's probably better not to.

Almost all lit-ion batteries from Tesla's to drones work this way and it is NOTHING unique about the iPhone.
