iPhone Tethered - Javascript doesn't work

When ever I tether my iPhone 4 to my Macbook Pro, regardless of browser or connection type (USB/Bluetooth/WiFi), Javascript just stops working completely. This causes some websites (forums, usually) to become unusable. I've searched, but can't find anybody else even speaking about this.
