Before anyone gets all excited that this thread shouldn't be here, it is a tip/help for people who either have an iPhone and switch to Android or if you have a friend who switches to Android whom you used to iMessage with.
My situation:
Switched to SSGS3 and all of my former iPhone friends get my text send with my new device, but when they reply, it goes to my old device and I do not see it on my new phone.
Solutions:
1) BEFORE you switch out your SIM card or switch phones, disable iMessage from your old device.
2) You might also want to de-register your device on the Apple Support page, look for your devices, hit EDIT and remove device.
IF the first instruction does not work for you, try this:
Have either yourself or your friend who still has the iPhone start to type in a text then BEFORE you send, hold the finger over the text words, an option should pop up that says "Send as Text", click on it and send the text. This should break the cycle.
I have noted that some people feel that they have to disable iMessage every time they send text to a friend who is no longer associated with an Apple ID, but iMessage doesn't get the hint, and then re-enable it after. The above tips should solve the problem.
Hope this helps someone. I would have loved to find this solution without having to waste as much time as I did to get my texts!
