iPhone TomTom holder/mount: question about the USB port

I have a question about the iPhone tomtom mount ... Does anyone know if the USB port transmits data or just power?
I have a USB port in my car that allows you to connect your iPhone to listen to your music on the car's stereo, so if the holder's USB port transmits data as well (instead of just power) I'll buy one ...
