Hello everyone, out of curiosity a question you might be able to help with. When I connect my iPhone with 256GB storage to the Mac, the Finder shows the value 247.75GB as the total size. I would be interested where this value comes from, or what is deducted here. Can it be that the size of iOS does not count here? Binary to decimal do not make sense as a reason. Would be nice to know something about it.
 
Apple probably reserves some space for backup and recovery files and the like, similarly to how you might have a separate volume on a PC. Just a guess though.
 
I get the idea. I think I will try to find some info about the partition scheme of iOS, that might answer the question.
