Firstly, I'd like to say I did try to search for it, but "Update 2.0 VPN" brought back only results for "Update", So i apologize if it's been posted before.

The 100%, Main reason for keeping me from getting a Touch is the lack of support for PEAP wifi. I live on campus at a college that is blanketed with WiFi, but all use PEAP, so I'm out of luck.

Now I came across this page http://gizmodo.com/364788/iphone-20-update-available-for-free-in-june-touch-users-get-to-pay-up-again

It says "the addition of Cisco IPsec VPN for encrypted access to private corporate networks.". Turns out i have no clue what that means, but i'm hoping that it means PEAP will be supported, since I (think I) read somewhere PEAP is a Cisco product?

If not, I might as well just get a shuffle because there is no reason to spend that much if i can't browse the web at home, or college.

Be easy,
Joe.

Nobody knows if PEAP will be supported in 2.0 or not. We will just have to wait and see. Someone could right an app to support it but technically 3rd party apps aren't suppose to run in the background so we will see.

VPN has nothing to do with wireless authentication protocols. PEAP support is included with the 2.0 software as well as many other 802.1x wireless authentication protocols.

PEAP is not "a Cisco product", it is an open standard developed by several companies including Cisco: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Protected_Extensible_Authentication_Protocol

Much more info on what new enterprise capabilites the 2.0 software will bring can be found here, I highly suggest watching the presentation: http://www.apple.com/iphone/enterprise/

Boy is it good to hear that, now i can get one, woot!

But did 2.0 already come out, or is the beta release what people are talking about?
