I'm considering purchasing a ipod touch 4gen for my sister but I'm not sure if it is even worth the purchase? Would it be better going the extra mile and spending the 100$ for the 5th gen?

I have a 4th gen touch and can say that with iOS 6 is laggggsssssssss

So would definitely buy the 5th gen

How much do you like her? Also more importantly how long would she be likely to keep the iPod Touch for. If it will be years before it is replaced, I'd say go for the fifth generation.

Don't even think about getting the 4th gen. Everything about it sucks. The screen, the pathetic low RAM, the slowness you can't believe and the WiFi because it is only 2.4 Ghz I can go on. Just get the 5th gen you will not be disappointment.

If you got a really, really good deal on the 4th, maybe. The 5th generation form factor just blows anything else away. I would get it just for that.

Touch 4 is only good for music and video now.

If thats all she used it for then you should get her. But i still think apple price Touch 4 too expensive for what they can do now.

That's quite hilarious. My jailbroken iPod touch 4 works fine! Only 2.4ghz wifi? No difference where I live. Screen? The screen is decent, yep it could be better but oh well it handles. I agree with ram. Slowness? I only recieve minor animation lag after exiting a resource intensive application.

In short terms, no everything does not suck.

Well with about 60 other WiFi networks in my area (my network is WiFi_Tony) it got so bad that I could not even stream low bit rate music without dropouts. With the iPT5 on 5 Ghz I don't get dropouts.
