Do you know why my iphone is still able to work without the glass?

Back in may, i shattered my iphone screen, and replaced with a 90 dollar full replacement (for ease) from hong kong.

now i have broken it again, after clearing the pieces that were falling out. the phone (mind you, the lcd that was a part of the hong kong purchase) still works, not just as display, but touch and all. even in the areas on no glass.

check the vid below, made for all you wonderful folks here on macrumors =]

**not the best vid, my webcam aint the best and well, i dont have any editing software on the computer i was on.

haha. yea good point.

the question lies in the fact of

Do you know why my iphone is still able to work without the glass?

The glass itself isn't the touchscreen part. It is in fact, just glass.
The digitizer (touch screen) is actually another separate part that is the same size as the lcd.

Replacing just the glass can be a pain so realistically you'd be best buying another glass panel and digitizer as one.

Hope this helps.
