I was messing around with the phone. What is tty and what does it do ? Just wondering any help would be cool thanks!

TTY allows hearing impaired individuals to make and receive text phone calls.

It's still being used to communicate via land lines with people who speak but texting is taking over. I worked with a completely deaf guy at work who texted like a fiend. He loved text messaging because he "could finally use a cell phone like everyone else." It really meant a lot to him.
