Ok I'll be honest, I'm not real technical, I really dislike AT&T and decided to embark on this unlocking journey and I'm quite beside myself at this point.
My awesome girlfriend bought me this phone two days ago and I've already managed to F it up. So here goes, I used the AppSnap method, got the installer app on it, paid the 60 bucks for iPhoneSimFree, all was working well, except I could not get on the edge network for t-mobile. I read that you needed iBrickr to mod a couple files, well I'm on a mac so I read you could use iFuntastic. Well that's where my experience became iNotsofuntastic. I know now I should have never tried to use their software since I had already unlocked the phone. Part of their process had iTunes do a restore process, that was suppose to bomb out, well it didn't, I don't know what "Technically" happened but it it went into this mode where it has the Itunes logo with a chord going to it, iTunes wants it to be activated with AT&T. So I think, ok well I'll just do the AppSnap method again, I can get in, add my two contacts, make my prefs changes, but when I go to the Jailbreakme site and click install apptap and it goes to the http://jailbreakme/files/y.tiff a little tiny blue square shows up in the top left corner and nothing happens. My best guess is that the first time I loaded it, it patched the tiff exploit so now when it should be exploiting and installing software it just shows the tiff image and does nothing. So I don't think it's bricked because I can get to that point, but it's obviously in a bad spot and frankly I don't know where to go from here, I'm honestly mentally drained and stressed trying to solve this and not have then be the most expensive paper weight my girlfriend has ever purchased. So I'm begging, if it costs money to fix, fine, if it can be done for free, fine, if you need to know more info, I'll give ya all you need but you may have to tell me how to get it. I tried asking the iFuntastic guy and in not so many words he basically said, you ****ed it up, not my problem, and he's right but I just want some help. I did a number combination that revealed the field tech info and found out it does currently have 1.1.1 firmware on the phone, which is what it had when I first bought it. All the hacks worked without me downgrading the version, not I don't think any of the iFuntastic experience downgraded the firmware, but to be honest, I don't know. Sorry for the long post, but anyone who can help would be my hero, I know it's my own problem, but 250k hacked iphones someone has to have experienced something similar and fixed it.
