I've had my iPhone 4 unlocked legitimately via the O2 service, which should be registered with Apple. I haven't upgraded the iOS since as I'm not sure if it will 'reverse' the unlocking. Now I want to upgrade to iOS5. Does anyone know if this will stop the unlock or if it's safe to go for an update? Thanks!

If this is a factory unlocked which you describe above, then you are good to update its firmware with Itunes and it will remain unlocked.

well he doesn't have a factory unlocked iPhone he just legitimately unlocked his iPhone via his carrier...

Thanks guys - I'll give the upgrade a shot. What's the worst that could happen? (I'll be without my phone for a week! Ouch). I'll let you know if it worked...
