iPhone unlocking on Vodafone UK?

Gave up trying to get sim/contract free iPhone 5 and got it on Vodafone for 12 month contract .. obviously 12 months to go before I can switch but just curious as to what Vodafone UK's policy is on unlocking? Will I have to wait until the end of the 12 months, do they charge, etc?

Thanks. I asked in the Apple store if it would be locked to VF and they said yes, I'm guessing it must do that as part of the registration process as they are pre-allocated to VF in store?
