I currently have an AT&T 8 Plus (A1897) on the iPhone upgrade program. I want to switch to Sprint from AT&T because in my office I get little to no service with AT&T and have missed numerous phone calls/texts. Sprint's service is passable in comparison and I get a decent discount through my company.

However, when I first tried to switch over to Sprint, I was told that the phone's aren't compatible because of the CDMA/GSM issue and I can't just pop the ATT Sim out and pop in a Sprint one. I thought all the 8 Pluses were compatible as long as 4G service is available?

I believe you would have to have an unlocked 8+ with no carrier selected (purchased from Apple) in order to use that phone on Sprint. The unlocked no carrier iPhones purchased direct from Apple can be used with both CDMA and GSM carriers.
