How was your experience last year pre-ordering when using the iPhone upgrade program. This will be my first year upgrading with the program, just wondering how everyone's experience went last year.
My first year doing this.. how long of time do I get to return the phone I have now ???
They send you a trade in kit that you'll get shortly after you get your phone. After that, you'll have two weeks to send the phone to them.
Correct. Your carrier only finds out you have a new device. It has no idea how you're paying for it.Dumb question, but I'm assuming you get a bill from Apple/Citizens for the phone and are just charged the line fee from your carrier?
I'm switching from AT&T next and just wanted to understand the logistics....
I've always had mine shipped but this year I'm heading out of the country for a week the night of launch day. I was thinking about doing store pickup but not sure how the timing work. Do IUP members have a fast lane pickup the morning of launch at 8am or is it a specific time window throughout the day?
Interesting, thanks! Did you pick the time right during the pre-order time? Were time options relatively flexible or limited?Last year they made me do an appointment to pick up my phone on release day.
Ok so here was my nightmare last year. yes I went at 11 am to my Apple store appointment but their ups driver didn’t show up the night before so my appointment got pushed to 6 pm and got it then. Kinda of a nightmare. May just have mine shipped this yearInteresting, thanks! Did you pick the time right during the pre-order time? Were time options relatively flexible or limited?

There is no fast lane for iUP members. At check out, you just choose the time that works for you and be there on time. You can be there as early, heck you can also arrive later than your selected time and they still will help you. Last year when the server was down, I wasn't able to pick up my iPhone at my time that I choose to pick up so I had to come back an hour later and I was still able to pick it up. Technically if it's a walk-in reservation, they only hold it for that day and if you don't pick it up, they will release it and be put back into stock for someone else to take the next day.I've always had mine shipped but this year I'm heading out of the country for a week the night of launch day. I believe so, from what I recall, when you open up the Apple Store App on your iPhone, and you just follow instructions.Isn't there a way to pre-approve for the IUP? This will be my first year doing the program and I believe I thought I heard they open that up after the keynote and you go in, get pre approved, set up which phone you want and then release day you just order?

That’s what I said, you can start the pre-approval process when you open the Apple store Apple, likely later today. But I believe you can do it this afternoon and not during the pre-order madness.
I haven't seen it though and unable to confirm any details but I am sure someone here has done it that can report.
Last year I was able to pre-approve early also. I had to wait on UPS also. Hardly a nightmare as I got the phone that day.
I only remember it last year as I believe it was only my second year in the IUP.Do you have to do the pre-approval process every year or is it every other year?
