Been on the iPhone Upgrade Program for years. Got the 13 Pro last week, no problem. All I'm trying to do is keep my 12 Pro, pay off the balance of the old loan, and give the phone to a family member.

I've called Citizens One (who told me to contact Apple because the old loan was "on hold"), I've called Apple and they told me to talk to Citizens One, and I'm stuck in the runaround.

Why is this such a difficult thing to accomplish? Trying to give Citizens One a lump sum payment of $627 to pay off the 12 Pro balance and they don't want my money.

Is there a trick to getting this done?

Thanks all!

It is extremely difficult to pay off more than your minimum payment with the Citizens One loan - call them up, give them the loan info, they have to do it over the phone. I've done it once and it was difficult. Won't do it again. I did this several years ago. Funny it's still a problem today. Their website is like a 1990s page last I checked.

Yeah the website is REALLY bad, lol. Legit looks like something from 1996.
I did try to call them but was told that I couldn't pay off the balance because the old loan was now "on hold", and that Apple had to release it.

What an absurd process. Guess I'll keep trying?

That is horrible. The 12 Pro Max (last year) - I left Citizens One and did the Apple Card payments. I don't miss it :(. Good luck getting that loan removed from on hold. Good grief.

They don’t want to cancel it because they’re hoping you’ll miss a payment — then they can charge you interest and late payment fees
