I'm currently with AT&T and I'm considering the iPhone 8, 256 GB. What are the pros vs. cons to using the iPhone upgrade program other than the obvious that you get to upgrade after 12 months? I'm not sure that I would upgrade after a year and I can afford to pay full price for the phone. The only big thing that concerns me is that I might change carriers (to Verizon) over the next year. Will Apple swap the phone out at no charge if I decide to change from AT&T to Verizon?

In the UK we only got the iPhone Upgrade Programme last year, and already there are some concerns. I'd honestly pitch it to those who want the newest iPhone without a carrier plan but are unable or unwilling to shell out for the upfront cost of the device. Also AppleCare coverage from Day 1 is nice if you prefer that service over a 3rd party option for repairs.

Because if you're comfortable with the basic premise of the plan, which is just an iPhone on an instalment plan, then cool. The mistake is putting the upgrade is the main selling point IMO, because prices are not consistent, and if Apple adjusts the release dates for the phone then you are left in a bit of a jam. Good luck to those who got their iPhone 7s last year on release but now want a X instead of an 8.
