iPhone upgrade program question that I’ve not seen pop up in my search.

I planned to upgrade my iPhone 11 Pro to iPhone 12 pro with upgrade program. I was already enrolled with the 11 pro since lunch last year and have paid off 12 - 13 payments or something like that.

I applied for the upgrade, however, my wife now wants to keep the 11 pro to use herself.

Is it possible, at the time of pick up, to get the 12 pro, but not trade in the 11 pro and hand down to my wife, hence keeping two loans active (which is obviously intend to pay)? Does anyone have any experience in doing something like this? Is there any penalty for doing so?

Thanks!

Yes. You can just keep it and continue to pay the remaining off.

Thanks! So just to reiterate, I can hold on the the old phone and continue making payments while picking up new phone on upgrade program. Two loans; two phones. Not buying either outright; but instead financing them both with Apple care.

you guys are always a wealth of knowledge. Thanks so much!

That's whats cool about the upgrade program, if you decide the new year's model is for you great, if not also great, you have that option. I do Verizon's plan and am happy with having that option if I choose (which I normally do)

That’s what I’m trying to confirm though- the new model is what I’m getting this year. I ordered through upgrade program, intending to trade back my iPhone 11 Pro which is presently in upgrade program from last year. My wife now wants to keep that phone. So the program thinks I’m trading the other in to upgrade to new. I intend to not do that now. Assuming it will be fine so long as I continue to pay the loan monthly.

You're good - keep your 11 as is. Do nothing and continue paying. Get a new 12 with a new IUP loan.
