iPhone 13 Pro Max iPhone Upgrade Trade In Issue?

Hi I have a IPhone 13 Pro Max and I am on the IPhone Upgrade Program. I am going to upgrade but if it is real eased on the 16th I am going to be leaving on a trip out of the Country that morning and will be retiring the following Friday the 23rd. And I am leaving for a two week trip on the 26th. So if I set my preorder for pick up at the store they will only hold it for 7 days but I don’t think I will have time on the 23rd to do the pickup and do the trade in. If I have it delivered I have to rely on the trade in box coming during that week and then send it in no worries. I called Apple and they told me that I can only trade it in at the store if I pick up the 14 in store. Sorry if this sounds confusing. Thanks for any help you can provide!

You can get your new device delivered and then go to apple store to return your previous device. I’ve done it and know many who have. I plan to get 14PM delivered to my house like I do every year. The next day drive 10 mins to my apple store and return 13PM. I’m on AUP too BTW.

Also Apple technically has to hold your order for 14-21 days before it gets cancelled and be sent back.
