What exactly is "other" when looking at the graph of photos/music/apps etc...

I have 2GB taken up by other. I assume its stuff like messages, but 2GB seems like a lot. :eek:

I'm also Jailbroken (4s), so I don't know if that takes up memory too?
 
Are you talking about the "Other" in iTunes? If you check on your phone you'll get a better breakdown.

On your iPhone go to Settings > General > Usage > Storage...

This will show the data all your individual apps are using.
 
JB does take up some of other, but you'd still have that on a non-jb phone.

Yes. On my phone all it shows is the breakdown of apps, nothing "other".
 
I'm not the search police! :) This has been covered a number of times. There was a really good thread recently but I don't have the link or I would post it here. The basic gist is that it's "stuff" that will go away if you restore but will collect again.
