iPhone usage, "other"

What exactly is "other" when looking at the graph of photos/music/apps etc...

I have 2GB taken up by other. I assume its stuff like messages, but 2GB seems like a lot.

I'm also Jailbroken (4s), so I don't know if that takes up memory too?

JB does take up some of other, but you'd still have that on a non-jb phone.

Are you talking about the "Other" in iTunes? If you check on your phone you'll get a better breakdown.

On your iPhone go to Settings > General > Usage > Storage...

This will show the data all your individual apps are using.

Yes. On my phone all it shows is the breakdown of apps, nothing "other".

I'm not the search police! This has been covered a number of times. There was a really good thread recently but I don't have the link or I would post it here. The basic gist is that it's "stuff" that will go away if you restore but will collect again.
