This is a thread for everyone to post their ideas of what the iPhone v2/3G will look like. To start us off, here's a template I put together just to show what a new iPhone ad could be. GOOD LUCK! :D

I don't think the form factor is going to change much...hopefully a little slimmer. We already know what the OS looks like....

that home button, is horrible.
i really would like them to create a design, that has the screen being the WHOLE front of the phone, this would be so fly...:D

I agree about the home button, but as I said, it's just a rough draft of an ad, not my actual 3G iPhone concept (which I'll be working on)! :)

They are probably going to stick with 90% of the current design of the one we have now.

I completely love the iPhone(insert 2nd power sign here) idea.
and "The best gets better" would be a more realistic headline.
As for the design, same iPhone, thinner, less chin, less forehead, touch-sensitive home button.
Not criticism, just ideas :)
Love your concept!

I can see it being like that. Just a bezel and nothing else for $600.

You're probably going to continue to see a hardware-based home button of some kind on the iPhone. It serves as the reset of last resort when applications hang an aren't responding (and the screen is not responding as a result).

I also think there won't be much physical change. Maybe thinner, but then maybe not. I think the improvements will be confined to features (obviously 3G, more memory, maybe we'll finally see MMS). But for me, that'll be totally worth it. In fact I PREFER that the physical appearance be the same, but features be the big improvement.

... okay well, maybe ONE change. The chrome trim around the glass. It looks nice coming out of the box, but damn is it easy to scuff and scratch. It's gotta go.

Thanks for the responses everybody! By the way, SleepingSicknes, nice concept! Keep them coming folks! :D

Regarding looks, I'd wish for a case that has the rubberized paint like say, the HTC Touch. Looks good but also is easy to hold onto. Not slick or prone to fingerprints.

Side note: you know guys, you don't have to quote an entire posting and/or huge picture that you're replying to each time. We usually know what you're talking about :)

My shot at it...

I put the home button at the bottom because you can access it quickly. Have your index finger on the screen and your thumb on the home button. This also makes the iPhone slightly smaller in length.

P.S. I should've made it more round, but I was too lazy. If Apple did something similar to this then they would obviously make it more round like the current iPhone. I also wasn't sure where I should put the USB port, so I put it there for now.

Also, bigger speakers = louder sound! :)

Form factor won't change much, if at all. (Except maybe get a little thinner). The current form factor of the iPhone is pretty much perfect. What people care about is what the phone can actually do, not where Apple puts the home button or the color of the frame. 3G, GPS, SDK, battery life, etc. are significantly more important than form factor at this point.

iPhone Max

OK, to get the posts going again, here's my new iPhone v2 concept...

web.jpg

I call it, the iPhone Max. It has 3G HDSPA/HSUPA Network access, a front-sided camera for video conferencing (you can't see it because it's under the glass - Apple Style :D), a slightly different UI to integrate with the new hardware features, and of course, a new design.

Submit your concepts here. Start posting!

apple isn't going to make anything ugly or just flat out weird.

just wanted to throw that out there.

I really doubt they're going redesign the iphone so soon. It'll probably be thinner yes, but no major redesign.
