Hey, my friend is giving me his version 1 iphone when he gets the new iphone (long story as to why i'm not getting the new version myself) I will not be taking out a contract on the phone and was hoping to use a PAYG 02 Sim for the iphone, however i have read several threads which say the iphone will not be available on payg until december! so if i were to unlock this phone to any network and jailbreak it would that mean i would not be able to update to the new upgrade 2.0 which is supposedly coming up soon? And if i did would i risk being left with an ibrick or on the other hand... have no way of getting onto the official itunes app. store!

thanks guys :p

Yeah with a jailbroken/unlocked phone you must wait until the jailbreak is released for each version.

You may be able to set it up as a 'legit' iphone on a payg or simplicity tariff, but O2 aren't giving anything away right now.
