Iphone vibrates and beeps randomly (Mail Update Sound)

Has anybody else had this happen to them? Sometime when I'm making a call or listening to a voicemail, the phone will vibrate + beep (the same sound it makes when you open the mail app and it downloads new emails).

Happens to me quite often, anyone know why it does this?

Because you've got new email. You don't have to be in the Mail app to receive emails.

Set fetch to manual and turn off push in your mail and calendars settings to prevent this.
