I'm either going to buy a Bold or 3G iPhone. I noticed the Bold has video recording, and this is a big issue for me. Does the 3G iPhone have video recording or not?

get the 3G and jailbreak it. I just did it today with quickpwn and wow it was so easy and the differance is unreal. :D

I used quickpwn to jailbrake and install cycorder, all for free. For about 20mins work u can get video recording in your iPhone. I wouldn't sit around waiting fur apple to implement it. I reckon they will introduce video recording in the next gen iPhones

What do you need to video record for? Most people, including myself, use it to send those videos via MMS to other phones, so be mindful. The iPhone doesn't have MMS either.

It's good you're doing research. Nothing worse than buying a product that won't meet your needs, no matter how nice it may be.

I have the iphone but for your needs definitely get the bold. Dont listen to all these apple fanboys telling you to get the iphone and jail break it. Why would you buy a product and void the warranty while there's a product just as good and ready to use for video right out the box? While with the iphone u have to go through the work to jail break it and install some app the bold is ready to go as is. I mean i love my iphone dont get me wrong its just not a device that suits the needs for everybody.

Steps:

Steps:

1. Buy iPhone 3G
2. install 2.1 firmware
3. don't put anything on yet
4. quickpwn your phone (jailbreaking)
5. install apps and put music and stuff on your new jailbroken phone
6. go into Cydia and download Cycorder
7. enjoy unlimited video recording WITH sound (and easily transferable to your computer, the quality is actually really good too)

any questions? =)

I agree with the person recommending the Bold. I enjoy my jailbroken iPhone, but if all you want is video and you're not a savy user, updating your phone isn't going to be worth the trouble. I personally don't think the bold adds anything over the Curve though, but to each their own. :p

7 steps when you could just:

1. Buy a blackberry bold.
2. Enjoy your video!!!!

Just doesn't make sense to me

Thanks for the comments guys. I think I'm going to wait it out for the bold. My main concern with the iPhone is voiding the warranty, which would suck if it had problems.

i plan on jailbreaking my phone tonight after work. once i make a video with cycorder, can i send it to someone using the swirlymms i heard about?

I used Cycorder and SwirlyMMS and they both work great! I highly recommend Jailbreaking. I've done it on every iPhone I've ever had. Quite addicting!

Huh?? Jailbreaking most definitely does not void your warantee. Personally i would choose iPhone as you can't beat the all-in-one features with ipod etc. and lush looks of it.

I cannot believe there is still no video recording

it is a travesty against nature. utterly without excuse. almost as bad as all this NDA nonsense.

apple could be such a cool company. i just don't get why they constantly want to be douchebags.

now... once steve is dead, will the douchebaggery remain? is it him, or the corporate culture?

oh, and make the damn video camera work. ridiculous.
