If the new iPhone is getting a smaller dock connector, could it be a thunderbolt connector? Or would that be overkill? Would certainly make updating the iPhone fast, right?
I'll pretty much guarantee that it will NOT be a thunderbolt connector for the following reasons:
Only a minority of iPhone users actually have thunderbolt ports on their computers. Why include it when no one can use it?
The thunderbolt circuitry would take up much more space in the phone than USB.
Thunderbolt is much more expensive to implement than USB, and would add quite a bit to the cost of the phone.
A thunderbolt cable costs $50. Do you think Apple is going to provide that for free with every iPhone? Do you think they'll sell iPhones without a sync cable?
